Road Trip Poets are a blend of folk-goth music, Baltimore story-telling, and glorious percussive noise. Performing as a three piece, the band includes guitars, hand-drums, and the world's one and only wireless electric washboard.
Road Trip Poets is a trio of multi-instrumentalists. Eric Whitehair sings, and plays guitar and percussion (including the Washboard). Sandy West plays percussion from all over the world and sings. Ed Eibel plays guitar and other string instruments. Without a drum kit, the band has more control over volume and can play quieter venues, but with hand-drums and other percussion can still rock out at any volume.
The band writes and records original music, posted on Spotify and SoundCloud, and also posts performance videos on YouTube. Live shows also include wide range of rock, alt-rock, and blues covers from the 80s and 90s, classics from bands like the Beatles, Willy Nelson, and Del Shannon. Shows are family friendly and can be customized to fit venues. More information is on the Road Trip Poets Facebook and Instagram pages!
Past venues for Road Trip Poets shows in the DMV include: BabyCat Brewers, Diamondback Brewery, Takoma Park Folk Festival, Full Tilt Brewery, the Arlington County Fair, South 4-Corners (Silver Spring) Porchfest, Adams Morgan Porchfest, McGinty's Public House, Frank's Bay Tavern, the Ploughman Taproom, Four Hour Day Lutherie, Maryland Artsfest, Black Cherry Theater, and the Monument City Brewery. The band can turn it up for Friday and Saturday nights, and tone it down for family friendly Sunday afternoons.
